Officers of The Georgia Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc. 2009-2010

President:
Melinda O'Neill

Canton/Cherokee County

Attended first meeting in November of 1999 to network and have remained loyal ever since. After almost 9 years of employment with Cherokee County, Melinda is embarking on a new career with ProActive Management Consulting, a privately owned company that works with children who have been referred through the Department of Family and Children Services or the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Within GFBPWC, I started my tenure as a state officer in 2004 as Treasurer for two years, then Vice President for two years, and currently serving as President-Elect. I have served my local organization as President, Vice President, and Secretary. My favorite local job is model coordinator for our annual Fashion Show, a fundraiser during National Business Women's Week.

I am a Georgia native, born at the Atlanta Medical Center. I was raised In McDonough on my great-grandfather's farm, affectionately called "Fannin Hill". I attended the University of Georgia, during the heyday of Herschel Walker and a national football championship. I hold a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in marketing, and an Associate Degree in Applied Science with a major in Architectural Design. I have had the great pleasure of living and working in many different occupations in the great city of Atlanta. Happy to be "single again" and the mother of a beautiful daughter named Ashley, who just turned 19 and aspires to be a pastry chef.

Sandra Boyett

President-Elect:
Sandra Boyett

Lawrenceville/Gwinnett County

Sandra was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia and lived there and in Ocilla, Georgia until she was in the 6th grade when her father transferred to Jacksonville, Florida. She lived there until 1983 then moved back to Georgia.

Sandra began her career with the Internal Revenue Service two weeks after her high school graduation in 1972. She stayed with the IRS until the birth of her second child. After being a stay at home mom to her son Jason and daughter Amanda for two years she returned to work in the insurance industry with Independent Life Insurance Company.

After moving back to Georgia, she worked one year for another insurance company and then began her 24 year career with Rock Tenn starting as a secretary and began her move up the ladder after only 9 months, culminating with her current position as Administrative Manager.

Sandra has been a member since 1985 and has served as an officer at every level in her LO, served as Vice District Director, District Director, State Nominating Committee Chair and was the State Recording Secretary for two terms and is now serving as the State Vice President.

She enjoys spending time with family (which includes three and 1/2 grandchildren Breanna, Cole, Skyler and baby Makayla on the way) and friends, reading, volunteering and playing games on the computer.

Vice-President:
Bettye Dunwoody

Rossville

I have lived in the Rossville area for 56 years and was married to the late Johnny Dunwoody.  I have one son and one granddaughter. I began my career at age seventeen and continued my education through the age of sixty-two.  I have been fortunate to have a life filled with with civic and volunteer organizations that focused on the needs of the people.  My hobbies include antique hunting, cooking, travel and a little golf.

I began my professional career as a secretary and later changed to accounting.  I was an office manager and controller for a number of years until my retirement.  Throughout my professional career, I attended continuing education classes, work place updates and workshops geared to changes in requirements needed in my profession.

I have been a member of the Georgia Federation of Business and Professional Women since 1971 and give credit to this organization for the many "doors that have opened" thus, giving me many additional opportunities.  Within this organization, I served as local organization president, as well as other local offices and committee chairs. On the district level, I served as Northern District Director and Northern District Vice-Director, after attending many district meetings.  On the state level, I have served many times as a State Committee Chair.  I have also attended National Conferences.
